OUR 5TH & 6TH GRADE TEAM

2009 5th / 6th Grade Houston City Champions

The Greater Houston Lacrosse league “Young Guns” division representative for the Woodlands Junior High Lacrosse Club is comprised of 5th and 6th graders, who in the past have been mostly first year players. This team began in earnest in 2007 and has not been around as long as the other teams.

The youth and inexperience of the 5th / 6th grade team is not indicative of its competitiveness. No one season demonstrates this better than the 2009 season. The team got off to a rocky start losing 2 of their first three games, being completely shut out in one by the West Houston Cannons. The rest of the season however was a different story.

The 5th / 6th Grade team finished out the rest of their season undefeated and entered the Championship Tournament as the third seed. They safely navigated to the finals to face the West Houston Cannons once again. In dramatic fashion, the Woodlands boys beat a talented West Houston team in a extremely physical game to win the Woodlands Junior High Lacrosse Club’s first ever Championship in the “Young Guns” division.
